Purpose of NMWDOC
Provide an exchange of information and ideas between watershed managers and dam owners, regulators, operators, designers, suppliers and consultants.
Inform the media, public, politicians, and elected officials of the benefits associated with New Mexico dams.
Review and recommend policies and regulations affecting watershed management and dam ownership, design, operations, and maintenance and construction.
Support funding for watershed studies, watershed management, and watershed restoration projects through the collection and dissemination of information.
Support appropriate levels of funding for adequate staffing, training, and equipment levels in the Dam Safety Bureau of the Office of the State Engineer through the collection and dissemination of data and information to elected and appointed officials.
Search for other sources of funding for watershed management, dam design, construction, rehabilitation and safety related projects.
Activities of NMWDOC
Provide support, training, and technical assistance to dam owners, designers, operators, contractors, suppliers, and regulators through educational seminars and training sessions and through the collection and dissemination of data and information to New Mexico dam owners.
Provide an exchange of information between New Mexico dam owners, designers, operators, contractors, suppliers, and regulators.
Be an advocate for improved watershed management and dam design, operations, maintenance, and safety in New Mexico.
Provide information to watershed managers and dam owners concerning funding opportunities including grants, loans, and cost sharing.
